It's sad to know that the reputation of a good website has been damaged by scammers. Craiglist was really good in its first days but now it seems like it is run over by scammers. I guess this happens when there is poor management.

I wouldn't reply to any job listing there either. I wouldn't post a job ad on craigslist. You just don't know what kind of wacko's there are out there. It's better to be safe than sorry!

Private postings though are usually on the up and up. A college student wanting to pay someone to write an essay for them is one example.

I wouldn't respond to any business opportunity on Craigslist, but it is an excellent way to buy goods cheaply. These same goods can be resold at market value with quite a nice profit.
